Title:Systems Sales
Location:Regional

Job Description

Responsible for development and sales performance of assigned products, markets and territories either directly to end user target markets or along with established sales channel (dealers & representatives). Establish plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the marketing area and contribute to the development of training and educational programs for end users, dealers and manufacturer’s representatives.

Major Duties:

  • Provide daily inside and on-site sales to customers, using the consultative sales strategy, including developing business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of goals.
  • Conduct direct sales activities including but not limited to, telemarketing, cold calling, and participation in professional networking and trade organizations.
  • Conduct on-site visits of Kenwood dealer organizations to develop partner relationships, determine competitive sales activity review status of current sales to identify and resolve issues, and to ensure sales and marketing goals are achieved.
  • Respond to Request for Quotation (RFQ’s) & Request for Information (RFI’s).
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of applicable markets and product lines.
  • Develop and coordinate sales training and promotional activity to enhance the sale of Kenwood products including trade show preparation and attendance.
  • Provide monthly forecast, monthly activity report, and customer sales reports as required.
  • Create and configure user mailboxes, distribution lists, and custom recipients.
  • Adhere to company policy, procedure, and business ethics.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have minimum 2 year college degree, Bachelor’s preferred. Directly related, equivalent experience plus five years experience in a technical sales and marketing with an electronics manufacturer and/or as a manufacturer representative or a dealer accepted in lieu of college degree. Experience with public safety/service/works systems preferred.
  • 4 years experience in dealer sales management techniques and sales strategies.
  • Requires confidence and experience in a customer facing role, preferably using business-to-business consultative selling with professional organizations.
  • Possess knowledge of the assigned product group, the dynamics of the regional environment, and be able to gain an understanding of the Company overall sales direction.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, persuasive, negotiating skills, both written and verbal required. Must be enthusiastic, outgoing, thorough, and detail-oriented with exceptional customer service skills.

Working Relationships
Interact with Company departments such as administration, finance, warehouse, R & D, LMR regional managers, marketing, and service. Communicate and foster existing relationships with manufacturer representatives, after market vendors, and dealers. Maintain contact with clients to ensure a high level of satisfaction.

Problem Solving and Decision Making:
Deal with challenges in a positive and forward approach. Make decisions and set expectations that are in the best interest of the Company. Mitigate customer satisfaction issues utilizing a variety of Company resources as required.

Working Conditions:

Title:Order Desk Clerk 1
Location:Long Beach, CA

Basic Purpose and Principle Responsibilities

Reporting to the Order Administration Manger will follow established procedures and perform a series of clerical and coordination functions associated with the receipt, data entry, and processing of sales orders to ensure expeditious order shipment.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receives sales order by phone and mail, including quantity, shipping address, and special routing details, and clarifies product specifications and delivery.
  • Places sales orders, using computer terminal, and quotes prices to customers if requested.
  • Prepares documents to cancel back orders, effect changes in customer status, and to effect orders.
  • Maintains contacts with customers to resolve shipment or carrier problems, order discrepancies, advise on new products and altered product codes.
  • Advise Sales Representatives and Sales Managers when product shortages occur to assist in resolving customer concerns.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 1 year of clerical and customer service work experience.
  • High school diploma or GED, directly related experience of 4 years in lieu of education.
  • Must be able to operate personal & mainframe computers and related office equipment.
  • Possess effective customer relations skills and be able to expeditiously resolve problems associated with customer orders.

Working Relationships:

Reports directly to Order Administration Manager. Interacts with, Regional Managers, Representative Firms, Credit, Warehouse, Parts, Dealers, Customers and Communications personnel, to resolve customer problems.

Resolves order discrepancies to meet customer requirements. Coordinates shipment of orders.

Title:R & D Engineer, Radio Software
Location:Suwanee, GA

Basic Purpose and Principle Responsibilities

Reporting to Senior R&D Engineer-Software Development and R&D Manager, responsible for writing and modifying existing code for embedded controllers. Handle major and minor software projects from inception to completion as recommended by Product Manager or Yokohama Engineering as directed by the Senior R&D Engineer and R&D Manager.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create and/or modify radio embedded firmware and programming software.
  • Customize Kenwood firmware and software to provide new features and functionality for dealers and end-users.
  • Work with other R & D staff as required and coordinate with other engineering groups within the organization.
  • Recommend product software improvements; participate with new product investigation team tours as requested.
  • Investigate new technologies which will benefit the Communications Sector.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Degree BSCS or BSEE preferred or 8 years of directly related equivalent experience.
  • Preferred knowledge:  Industry experience writing specific applications in Assembly and C++ for embedded microprocessors. Must write for economy & stability with strong documentation skills.
  • Windows programming experience; C++, Visual C, C#, Java, Python.
  • Embedded Linux experience preferred.
  • Land Mobile Radio experience preferred.
  • DSP experience preferred.
  • Language: English, Spanish & Japanese desirable.

Working Relationships:

Reports to the Senior R&D Engineer –Software Development and R&D Manager. This position interfaces with department managers and personnel in the Communications Sector, Systems Group, KUSA and JVC Kenwood Corporation. Works with Japan Engineering or through the local liaison.

Problem Solving and Decision Making:

Must be detailed oriented with the ability to professionally relate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel. Ability to recognize and solve software and firmware issues brought by parts, technical support, and customers.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in general office environment, R & D lab and in the field.

Title:Programmer Analyst

Basic Purpose and Principle Responsibilities:

Reporting to the IT Manager conducts Applications Systems studies to define, analyze, and evaluate requirements for processing and communicating data. Translates design specifications of moderately difficult systems into computer application programs using structured methodology and high powered programming languages. Reviews moderately complex user requirements and provides direction in the identification of problems and potential solutions.

Major Duties:

  • Create and document conceptual and detailed design and write a code based on a conceptual description of the business logic.
  • Conducts systems analysis studies to determine appropriate data structure, machine requirements, procedures, and solutions for moderately complex computer applications.
  • Formulates logical statements of user requirements and develops design specifications involving data processing through the application of structured systems techniques.
  • Develop software based on the description of business logic.
  • Produce required results without close supervision.
  • Defines data structures including file organization.
  • Develops, maintains, and/or enhances computer applications programs; Prepares user instructions, block diagrams, subroutines, logic flow charts, statements of program objectives and associated documentation.
  • Translate detailed design specifications into program instructions using high powered languages.
  • Conducts a full range of programming tasks including program design, program coding, debugging and documentation for a variety of general application programs including data manipulation of input and output routines reflecting a variety of equipment configurations.
  • Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes and corrections.
  • Modifies existing programs to conform to system changes or to make improvements in the existing program.
  • Monitors performance of programs after implementation.
  • Performs special project assigned by IT Manager.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • BA Degree in Computer Science or 4 years experience of directly related Systems Analysis and Application Programming experience and proficiency in programming languages used in the department.
  • 2 years of work experience with Pick Basic Language.
  • 2 years experience and knowledge in structured Systems Analysis and programming techniques and principles and be skilled in defining and translating systems problems.
  • Possess working knowledge of Distribution Information Systems, Accounting Systems, PC software and communications software.
  • Possess skill set of Visual Basic with multi value, .Net with multi value and JBase.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and resolve a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists.

Working Relationships:

Reports to IT Manager and interacts with user departments to determine system requirements and review programs. Interacts with other IT personnel to coordinate programs.

Problem Solving And Decision Making:

Must decide on changes in screen formats, changes in reports, additions to file structure, recovery of lost data, and end-user interface.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a general office environment.

Title:Sales Engineer - Systems
Location:Suwanee, GA

Job Description

Reporting to the Sr. Systems Engineer for Kenwood USA Corporation’s Communications Sector, Systems Division. Liaison between field sales, production and engineering teams; work with field sales to develop the customer’s specifications and the winning technical system designs.  Develop technical and system design strategies to differentiate from the competition.

Major Duties:

  • Attend pre-bid meetings to understand end user requirements.
  • Attend post-bid meetings to support system design.
  • Develop and present pre-sale technical material to support the sales team.
  • Produce technical narratives to support proposals and bid specifications.
  • Develop system diagrams and propagation studies.
  • Collaborate with end users regarding features and proper system configuration.
  • Recommend sub-contractors based on the Scope of Work as required to support proposals.
  • Develop the equipment list based on the proposed system design.
  • Manage project equipment deliverables.
  • Assist in the development of system cutover plans for the transition from legacy systems.
  • Maintain an extended on site presence and assume a leadership role during the critical phases of equipment deployment and cutover.
  • Assist in the assembly of system components.
  • Assist in the development of training material and training of the customer, subcontractors, and end users.
  • Assist in the development of Factory Acceptance Test plans and participate in the completion of the test, and development of System Acceptance Test plans, and participate in the execution of the test plan.
  • Program and test radios, controllers, power supplies, switches, routers and other equipment as assigned.
  • Work from drawings, prototypes, verbal instructions and supervised guidance.
  • Ensure only the highest quality and neatness in all assembly, fabrication and electronic tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment with professional appearance.
  • Safely and efficiently operate hand tools and power tools such as electric drills and screw guns, circular saws, drill presses and similar tools or machinery in the normal day-to-day course of activities and all electronic test equipment such as communication service monitors, Volt-Ohm Meters, Watt Meters, SINAD meters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, pulse generators, power supplies, test adaptors, computers and related equipment in the normal day-to-day course of activities.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations as established by industry standards, FCC, ANSI, OSHA and Kenwood USA, or all special rules and regulations as applicable to individual projects or jobsites. 
  • Immediately notify supervisor of any unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions, activities or situations; immediately stop work rather than risk personal health, safety or damage to equipment.
  • Perform all other duties as needed, assigned by supervisors, and as required to enhance and further the activities and goals of the company. 
    Significant domestic travel and occasional international travel are required for this position.This position requires significant overtime.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 5 years LMR system experience, current knowledge of RF communications products & solutions with infrastructure-level experience in mobile radio networks.
  • This position requires a valid Georgia driver’s license and a valid US passport.
  • This position requires a high school diploma or certificate of equivalency (GED) and an accredited ASEE or ASEET or its technical training and experience equivalent.
  • This position requires an FCC General Radio Telephone Operator License or equivalent NABER, NARTE, APCO or ISCET certification.
  • 5 years experience and possess advanced knowledge of computers and their proper operation using company-provided applications such as Microsoft Office and AutoCAD as well as programming and communication utility software.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience with mobile radio equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with microwave and mux equipment.
  • Strong problem solving skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
