Garmin Navigation Software Update
Update to Garmin Version 3.20 from any previous version.
This Update will:
- Fix the navigation lockup (updating...) issue
- Add EcoRoute guidance feature

Symptom
- Navigation screen freezes and the touch screen is unresponsive.
- "GPS Firmware Update Complete" / "OK" is displayed for 5 seconds and reappears every 30 seconds.

For units experiencing the above symptoms, please perform the following update procedure. |
| Requirements: IBM-compatible PC running Windows XP or later operating system and an available SD card reader with blank SD card.. |

1. Download Garmin 3.20 software here:

Take note of the folder you save the software to.

| 2. Create a 'garmin' folder on an SD data card (must be at least 30mb space available on the card). |

2. Run the downloaded executable file. |

3. Click on Browse and a select temporary location of your choosing to extract the update. |
| 4. Click on Browse and select the SD card reader in the list, then select the 'garmin' folder. |

4. Click Unzip to extract the update. |
| 5. Click Unzip to save the files onto the 'garmin' directory on the SD card. |
|
5. Wait for the message that the update was unzipped successfully and close the updater. |

6. Insert a burnable CD into your PC. |
| 7. Safely remove SD card from PC. |
|
7. Use CD burning software to create a 'garmin' directory on the CD. |

8. Add the files extracted in step #4 to the 'garmin' directory on the CD. |

9. Burn the files to the CD with the Finalize CD option selected then eject the CD from the computer. |

*Before starting the update process, please turn off cell phone if connected via Bluetooth and disconnect GTM-10 traffic module if connected.

1. Press and hold the RESET button for 2-3 seconds, then release.
2. When the initial SETUP screen appears, immediately press the down arrow, then select FINISH.

3. Select the NAV screen by pressing the NAV hard key or the green bar.

4. Press and hold the EJECT button to reveal the SD card slot. Insert the SD card, then press the EJECT button to close.

4. Insert the update disc. The following prompt should then appear.

5. The update will begin after the screen closes. The display will go black with SOFTWARE LOADING being displayed.

5. The unit will ask if you wish to update. Select YES. The update will start shortly after.

*If the screen locks up before this screen appears. Please see PROBLEMS UPDATING below. |
The update is complete when the AGREE screen appears. Approx 5 minutes. You can then Press and hold EJECT to remove the SD card.

*NOTE: DO NOT TURN OFF OR REMOVE THE SD CARD UNTIL THE UPDATE IS COMPLETE. |

Towards the end of the update process, the disc will eject automatically, but continue to finish the update. The update is complete when the AGREE screen appears. Approx 5 min.

The version can be verified on the nav screen.

PROBLEMS UPDATING If the unit locks up before the YES/NO prompt appears, press the RESET button and repeat the procedure with the disc in the unit. In this case, after selecting the NAV screen, the validating update should already be displayed. Please wait for the unit to give the YES/ NO prompt. It may be necessary to go through this process 2 to 3 times. |
